WW2 Original, Short Ryakushiki GUNTO.
It is short in length and was likely used by tank or aircraft crew.
The blade is a repurposed version of a traditional Edo-period samurai sword. (Shobuzukuri Wakizashi)
It seems that descendants of samurai often turned blades passed down as family heirlooms into GUNTOs and took them to the battlefield.
