A long Wakizashi, it is almost the same length as a Katana.

Shitahara was a group of swordsmiths active from the end of the Muromachi period to the end of the Edo period.
During the Edo period, they were exclusive swordsmiths for the Tokugawa Shogunate, producing swords and spears based in what is now Hachioji, Tokyo.
This piece is from the Edo period.
