KATAKIRIHA-ZUKURI Kaifuto Wakizashi, with KOZUKA, Edo period mumei
The blade of Katakiriha-Zukuri has a different style on the front and back.
The front side is Hira-zukuri, the back side is Kiriha-Zukuri.
It is a style common to Kaifuto, and comes with a signed Kozuka.
Kaifuto refers to swords made in Awa (present Tokushima prefecture).
They are a group of swordsmiths who have been making swords since ancient times.
It seems that pirates liked to use them.
Perhaps because they were intended to be used on the seaside, they were well-known for their sharpness, so they could be used even if they were a little rusty.
It is a sword that emphasizes practicality.
